Sudden Strike 4, Vikings – Wolves of Midgard and Dungeons 3 showcased for PS4 at PSX 2017
This year we were thrilled to be able to show our current and upcoming titles for PlayStation 4 at PlayStation Experience 2017, as the doors of the Postpalast in Munich opened for a third time to welcome the giants of the video games industry.
Jam-packed with great games
In addition to our recently released “Fantasy meets Nordic mythology” action RPG Vikings – Wolves of Midgard, we also brought with us the latest development builds of upcoming strategy heavyweights Sudden Strike 4 and Dungeons 3 to show media and gamers alike what we’ve got in store for PS4 in 2017.
On the booth
One of the first visitors to our booth took advantage of the early start to let our PR Manager Bernd Berheide show him how to control absolute evil to fight the fluffy forces of good in action-packed real-time strategy title Dungeons 3.
Over the course of the morning, the demo stations became increasingly busy and the quiet hum of the exhibition space was soon replaced by excited chatter, interviews and the sound of clicking Dualshocks as the show got into full swing. Bernd Berheide and producer Christian Schlütter (Sudden Strike 4, Dungeons 3) loved every minute as they kept themselves busy by showing everyone around and answering all the questions.
Strategy on console
We were thrilled to welcome so many fans of real-time strategy legend Sudden Strike to the booth, who were all excited to see the return of series with Sudden Strike 4. Christian Schlütter tirelessly answered all questions and demonstrated just how well strategy games can work on console. Of course, our visitors also were able to experience this for themselves with hands-on gameplay time!
An exercise in axe-wielding
Naturally, visitors to the booth were also keen to test Dungeons 3 and Vikings – Wolves of Midgard. In fact, along with guests of the show, we also welcomed some show staff to play the games for themselves! Perks of the job, right? One of the technicians couldn’t tear himself away from action-smasher Vikings – Wolves of Midgard and told us he was most impressed by just how smoothly the title plays. Duty called eventually though and he had to hang up his controller for the day, but not before promising to buy a copy later for his own console at home so he could continue to fight his way through the creatures of Fimbulwinter!
Evil comes in threes
Not one to miss an opportunity to strike some fear into the hearts of mortals, the Dungeon Lord made his presence known with a very early playable version of Dungeons 3, our recently announced dungeon management sim sequel. As we hoped, PlayStation fans proved themselves worthy understudies to the Absolute Evil, by immersing themselves into the role and taking control of the dark elf Thalya to see what the new game has to offer. Sure enough, together with the Dungeon Lord’s newest recruit, gamers were only too happy to set about expanding their own dungeons with new rooms and functions, and gathering their forces for their first forays into the gleeful expanse of the Overworld.
Good neighbours and good friends
If the delights of Vikings – Wolves of Midgard, Sudden Strike 4 and Dungeons 3 weren’t enough, our neighbouring booth also happened to be inhabited by our good friends at Daedalic Entertainment, who sneaked into the exhibition space with their critically-acclaimed tactical stealth game Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, to be published by Kalypso as a boxed-retail edition on PS4 and Xbox One later this year.
All good things…
…must come to an end! We had a great time at Playstation Experience 2017, and were so grateful to the fans for the positive response to our 2017 line-up. Thanks to everyone that came to see us over the course of the show, and we hope you enjoy playing our upcoming titles when they launch on PlayStation 4 later this year!
