We’re proud and honoured to reveal that two of our games, Railway Empire and Project Highrise Mobile, have been nominated for the TOMMI 2018 Awards, Germany’s most renowned children’s software award ceremony! Railway Empire has been nominated for the PC category, while Project Highrise Mobile takes its place in the iOS and Android category.
At TOMMI, a panel of judges rates the submitted games and nominates them for the next round, during which children’s juries in 20 libraries across Germany will choose their favorites.
Here’s what the expert jury had to say about Railway Empire:
“Build railway tracks, buy train stations and trains, while managing money and paying attention to the needs of customers. Here, you’ll build a railway company from scratch and and transform it into an empire. The well-balanced game system and the great depth of play make up the appeal of this economic simulation. Older children should have a lot of fun with Railway Empire while also learning about economics, which is implemented logically and vividly in the game itself. (Age 10+)”
The jury also had plenty of praise for Project Highrise Mobile:
“Fans of strategy games are rarely catered to in the app arena. Now Kalypso has taken matters into their own hands and allowed us to build Sims-like skyscrapers full of bustling tenants in a slimmed-down version of the PC game. In Project Highrise Mobile, it’s all about starting small and steadily getting more and more luxurious. But watch out! The tenants have exacting demands, and if you’re not careful, your budget can quickly get out of hand. Fortunately, there are always additional tasks available that will bring money back through the cash register. Provides many hours of gameplay even without add-ons. (Age 9+)”
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for both Railway Empire and Project Highrise Mobile in their respective categories! Winners will be announced on October 12th 2018, at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
