Up next in our 15 years of Kalypso time travelling extravaganza is the year 2016! With the release of Project Highrise, our digital label Kasedo Games firmly created their own space in the industry and the following games are but a small peek into the successful presence they have established in the industry alongside the core Kalypso Media brand. To celebrate the occasion, PR, Marketing and Product Manager Patrick Cahill cracked open the Kasedo vault to share some fond memories.

Way back in 2016, Chicago-based dev team SomaSim teamed up with Kasedo to make skyscraper simulator, Project Highrise. Following trips to gaming conventions across the globe to promote the game (including this dashing pic of SomaSim devs Matt and Rob in their construction gear), it eventually launched in September later that year. Project Highrise: Architect’s Edition, a complete collection of the base game and all DLC, later brought the construction fun to consoles and was also the company’s first release on Nintendo Switch!

Fun Fact: The name Project Highrise was only meant to be temporary. However, the team grew to love it and the rest, as they say, is history! Just watch out if you idle in-game for too long though, you may get a visit from Godzilla!

Next up for Kasedo, was the 2018 collaboration with French developers Bulwark Studios on the critically acclaimed turn-based tactical title Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus. For the first time, Warhammer fans were able to control one of the most technologically advanced armies in the Imperium – the Adeptus Mechanicus – and pit their wits against the fearsome Necron forces

Warhammer, 40,000: Mechanicus is still one of the highest user-ranked Warhammer games on Steam and went on to be released on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and, earlier this year, even tablets! The Heretek DLC and Complete Collection followed shortly thereafter to give fans even more Warhammer goodness.

In a big step, Kasedo Games has recently become the majority shareholder in French developers Bulwark Studios and welcomed them into the Kalypso Media fold, making Bulwark the fourth development studio under the Kalypso umbrella and marking the group’s first steps into France.

Kasedo’s upcoming roster of games is set to be even more impressive with fantasy city builder, Distant Kingdoms having just released into early access. Building a sprawling medieval kingdom has never been more fun and with the addition of classical fantasy elements such as magic, elves, orcs and dwarves, Distant Kingdoms is one to watch. Just keep an eye out for rogue dragons, imps and trolls!
