Tortuga – A Pirate’s Tale Update 1.2 is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and the Epic Games Store!

Update 1.2 includes various improvements and fixes for sea battles and the world map, such as, the addition of an option to flee a battle, quests now being removeable from the quest log and more.

Improvements

World Map – Improvements

  • Pirates will no longer attack a much weaker player.
  • Remaining skill points can now be spent outside of the “divide booty” action.
  • The current active quest is now highlighted with a book icon.
  • Buying food and selling looted goods no longer counts as trading, so that you are still able to enjoy living the pirate life with Captain Anne Bonny, who dislikes trading.
  • Quests can now be removed from the quest log.
  • During an escort quest, attackers now patrol around the target town and no longer just wait for the player in front of said town.
  • Streamlined some upgrade descriptions to make their effect easier to understand.
  • Added a tooltip that explains the morale drop when using fast travel.
  • Added a tooltip to the “Cinematic Seabattle Camera” setting.

Sea Battles –
Improvements

  • Added an option to flee from battles.
  • Crews are now being redistributed after each sea battle with extra crew getting assigned to ships that have a captain.
  • Added a “Missed” message if cannon shots miss their target.
  • Damage information above ship now updates when selecting different ammo or shooting skills while in shooting mode.
  • Ships are now getting rotated towards the open sea in sea battles near islands/landmass.
  • Tile info is now only shown in movement and action mode during a sea battle.
  • Renamed the “Damage” value to “Maximum Damage” to clarify why cannons sometimes do less damage than displayed in the attack preview.
  • Reworked the chain shot description and damage values to clarify what this ammunition type does.
  • Updated some critical hit description texts to make it easier to understand what they do.
  • Updated projected damage display above ships to be consistent with the projected damage display in the shooting preview.

World Map – Bugs

  • Fixed an issue where the player’s name was sometimes not being displayed when discussing side quests.
  • Fixed an issue where the player would lose the Rum they gathered after completing Captain Dayron Esposito’s quest and would have to recollect it for the next quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the “repair” option at the Harbormaster sometimes disappeared upon reaching the reputation level “Duke”.
  • Fixed an issue where the intimidate option was still being displayed as available after a failed intimidation attempt during the battle initiation.
  • Fixed an issue where the article of capture “Accumulate Booty” counted booty gathered beforehand.
  • • Fixed achievement “Heavy Tunaing” not unlocking correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where the player was sometimes unable to exchange captains between ships.
  • Fixed an issue where the endgame cutscene would sometimes stutter.
  • Fixed an issue where the player would sometimes not receive the money promised after finishing the final main quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the player would not be able to recruit new crew members in some cases even though there is still room available in the convoy.
  • Fixed an issue where the description of Captain Mary Read mentioned that she hates carrying out missions for France twice.
  • Fixed some issues with positive crew comments sounding negative.
  • Fixed an issue where selling an upgraded ship or selling individual upgrades would not award the right amount of money. Upgrades now always reward 35% of their original cost, individually and when selling an upgraded ship.
  • Fixed an issue where some videos stuttered when hovering over ship upgrades in the Harbormaster.
  • Fixed some issues where upgrades at the Harbormaster did not display the small preview video.
  • Fixed an issue where the quest made the player deliver Grog when the informant wanted rum.
  • Adjusted the quest description of “Quick Wealth” asking you to defeat the enemy ships when you are supposed to board them.
  • Fixed an issue where some town names were not being displayed correctly in dialogues.
  • Fixed an issue where ships were able to enter a small passage near Tortuga where they could get stuck.

Sea Battles – Bugs

  • Fixed a graphical issue that could occur when entering a battle during a heavy thunderstorm.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the player was unable to move the ship to all available positions, sometimes forcing them to crash into an enemy ship when they should have enough space to maneuver around it.
  • Fixed an issue where ships sometimes were still able to shoot when none of the crew was left. Boarding initiation chance is still not necessarily 100% when trying to board empty ships, since it depends on multiple factors like the speed and the direction of the vessels.
  • Fixed an issue where the ability “Challenge” was sometimes not resulting in the affected enemy attacking the challenging ship.
  • Fixed an issue where all town raid choices sometimes awarded the same rewards.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s ship movement phase could sometimes get skipped automatically, leaving the ship unable to shoot.
  • Fixed an issue where ships sometimes had no action points available at the start of their turn.
  • Fixed an issue where the option to make an enemy captain “walk the plank” did not appear often enough.
  • We also fixed several edge case crashes and language specific bugs.
